Sahara Reporters publisher,and politician, Omoyele Sowore, has on Monday regained his freedom as he was released from the Kuje Prison after meeting the bail conditions granted by a Magistrate Court sitting in Kuje, Abuja.
NPO Reported that the activist was arrested last week Thursday shortly after he left the Federal High Court in Abuja, where he had met with the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
He was arraigned the following day alongside Nnamdi Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu’s younger brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, and 11 other protesters.
Recall that Kanu’s lawyer and brother were arrested alongside the 11 others by the police over #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest held in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, last week Monday.
They were all arraigned before Magistrate Abubakar Umar Sai’id on charges bordering on unlawful assembly and disturbance of public peace.
The Magistrate, in his ruling, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each, with the condition that they present a verified National Identification Number (NIN).
The court also directed them to submit their three-year tax clearance certificates and passports as part of the bail requirements.

However, Sowore would be re-arrested by the police shortly after being granted bail by the court.
The activist’s re-arrest had sparked public outrage, forcing the Nigerian Police Force to clarify that Sowore was only remanded pending the perfection of bail terms.
Following the perfection of the bail terms today, the 2023 African Action Congress (AAC) Presidential candidate and the others were released from Kuje Prison.
